Teraone media’s Sunyani-based Sompa FM on Saturday stormed the principal streets of the Bono Regional capital in the early hours of Saturday, with the third edition of the “Sompa Health Walk” to drum home the need for a peaceful Election 2024.
Scores of people including tertiary students, market women, artisanal workers, truck pushers, religious bodies and fun clubs joined that walk as they wore their customised yellow-made ‘T shirts” turning the capital into a ‘golden city”.
The euphoria was very exciting to behold, as the political parties and their followers spiced the walk, exchanging pleasantries and exhibiting their dancing prowess.
Mr Seid Mubarak, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Election 2024 Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Sunyani East Constituency who participated in the walk, later told the participants that peace remained a trademark for the NDC, as the General Election gathered momentum.
He, therefore, called on everybody to contribute towards strengthening and prevailing peace in the nation, saying, the country required absolute peace for the NDC to win political power and transform the economic fortunes of the nation for life to become comfortable for all.
Mr Mubarak urged the electorates in the constituency to vote for him and the NDC when they go to polls, saying his participation in the walk was a demonstration of his readiness and commitment to engage the constituents when he becomes the Member of Parliament (MP).
In an interview with the media, Mr Aboagye Boadi Yaw, the General Manager of Sompa FM, commended the people, describing the participation as exceptional since it was instituted by the FM stations three-years ago.
He emphasised that the significance of the Election 2024 required all stakeholders to contribute towards a deepened peace and social cohesion, and expressed appreciation to all the sponsors.
Mr Boadi said he was highly optimistic that the peace and tolerance exhibited by the various political parties and actors would be maintained and strengthened more for the nation to sail through the December 7, polls peacefully devoid of political violence.
