The Agric Director for Hemang Lower Denkyira District in the Central Region, David Kuatudoh has advocated the need for flexible measures to curb food insecurity in the country.
Speaking at the district's 40th farmer's day celebration at Jukwa Breman dubbed, "Building Climate Resilient Agriculture For Sustainable Food Security," the Agric Director opined the theme to be appropriate to reflect the need for the adaptation of pragmatic and smart approach in solving numerous challenges affecting the agric sector and the need to climb down on the challenges.
He admonished these challenges to include the lost of agricultural lands to sand winning and urbanization, lost of agricultural lands to small scale mining (galamsey), indiscriminate timber lumbering contributing to the unpredictable climate change issues facing the agricultural sector.
Mr. David Kuatudoh extolled the government of Ghana for its flagship programmes undertaken to overcome the challenges of food insecurity in the country like its planting for food and export, rearing for food and jobs and planting for food and jobs.
The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency and CEO of Exim Bank, Hon. Lawrence Kwabena Agyinsam in an engagement with the media eulogized the importance of farmers to the country, hence his outfit's unflinching support to Ghanaian farmers and the national farmer's day celebration over the years.
He uncovered the numerous untapped financial benefits farmers in the Hemang Lower Denkyira District stands recoup from their work through the exportation of their farm produce like cassava in the production of gari.
Seidu Iddris, who was adjudged the overall best farmer for Hemang Lower Denkyira District together with other awardee farmers, expressed excitement and advised the youth in particular to venture into farming and not waste of their lives in wait for the government to employ them.
