The Omanhene of Twifoman Traditional Area in the Central Region, Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku IV has implored Ghanaians and politicians to have the country's 2024 general election slated for December 7 emerge peaceful than ever.
He admonished God to be the one who enthrone and dethrone leaders, hence the need for all and sundry to embrace the general election devoid of any dispute capable to disrupt the country's peace enjoyed over the years, no matter the outcome of the election result.
Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku asserted this at the grand durbar of the 2024 Tu Anko Festival celebrated on the theme, "Our Root, Our Destiny, Our Pride," on Saturday at Twifo Hemang.
The Tu Anko Festival which embodies the cultural display and heritage of the people of Twifo Hemang, is celebrated in remembrance of how the indigenous Aduana clan of the ancient Twifoman got divided through migration.
Speaking at the colorful festival which garnered reputable personalities from all walks of life, the Twifomanhene remarked that one essence of election is to have the citizenry appoint its leaders without stress nor fight, so the need not to defeat this purpose through chaos and misunderstanding.
He pleaded on the people of Twifo Hemang, the Central Region and Ghana in general to carry out the exercise with outmost peace and respect on the day of election.
He bestowed trust in the government of Ghana to supervise a peaceful election and guard the country from suffering that which other African countries have endured through election violence.
Lawyer Seth Agyapong Mensah, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Hemang Lower Denkyira upon gracing the festival in an interview cautioned constituents over vote buying prior to election, having seen and heard how often his rival on the NPP ticket spreads money across.
He noted without mincing words that every candidate who desperately desires leadership, will turn out to become a bad leader. Thus, required of his constituents to be on the lookout.
Chairman for the occasion, Mr. Kwabena Amponsah, the CEO of Nkunim Groups of Companies at the festival advised Ghanaian youth to remain discipline and focus in life and be driven by passion, determination and patience through which their future aspirations will be realized.
The CEO having carried out numerous humanitarian activities like free health screening among others, have assured to extend a helping hand to the aged, orphans, widows and widowers in the subsequent years to come.
