Odomfour Dr Kwasi Apraku III the Paramount Chief of Odomase Number One Traditional Area in the Bono Region has inspired the Electoral Commission (EC) to remain resolute in the run-up to the December 7, polls.
As a referee in the Election 2024, he asked personnel of the EC to continue to remain neutral and professional in the conduct of the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
In an interview with the media at Odomase, the capital of the Sunyani West constituency, Odomfour Dr Apraku III, a US-based medical practitioner reminded the personnel of the commission that the sustenance of the prevailing national peace and stability largely depended on the EC.
He therefore called on the EC not to succumb to pressures from political parties for their party interest, instead concentrating on its constitutional mandate of conducting a credible poll whose outcome would be satisfied and acceptable by all stakeholders.
Odomfour Apraku III said Ghana the nation had come far in her multi-party democracy, and commended the nation's electoral management body for its successes, integrity and credibility.
"We have confidence in the EC's integrity. I am truly convinced that the Commission will not let us down in the elections", he stated, and urged the various political parties and independent candidates to also remain decorous in the electioneering.
The political parties must also allow the EC to work and desist from interfering in its work because the commission remains an independent body set up by the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.
