A stalwart in the person of Mr. John Quayson who is widely known as 'Manoma' has charged the Supreme Court of Ghana to expedite its process of the Human Sexual Right And Family Value Bill also known as the Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill which has been brought to the apex court's attention for further legal decision.
He admonished that the Chief Justice, Her Lordship Gertrude Maame Araba Esaaba Torkornoo was quick to rule on the case brought before the Supreme Court about the vacation of some four seats in parliament.
Mr. Quayson further reiterated that if the Chief Justice fails to treat the Anti- LGBTQ+ Bill with the necessary attention it deserves, Ghanaians may be left to reason that there are saboteurs of the bill.
He asserted this in a press conference held at the Elmina Castle on Monday.
Venting his frustration on the Chief Justice, he opined saying, "I have thought of some issues which appears problematic to me as a patriotic Ghanaian which is about the Chief Justice who hails from Gomoa Potsin here in the Central Region."
"In a few days, gayism and lesbianism has come to the public domain, yet the Chief Justice has not given it the needed attention necessary, but has been swift on her ruling on the vacant parliamentary seats."
"She is doing this for Ghanaians to allege that there are some big wigs who don't want the Anti- LGBTQ+ Bill to be passed into law," he remarked.
Some citizenry on the topic added their voices to address that as Christians and Muslims, Ghana cannot condone such an act, consequently the need for the president to assent to the bill to become a law."
"The upsurge of lesbianism and gayism in Ghana ought not to be entertained at any point. Thus, I suggest that with immediate effect the government should consent to the passage of the bill into law," a resident shared.
