The Chief of Donkro Nkwanta in the Nkoranza Traditional Area in the Bono East Region, Nana Owusu Akyaw Obrempong II has urged political parties to promote unity, peace and harmony during and after the upcoming general election slated for December 7.
He asserted this at the 35th anniversary of the Kwafie Yam Festival on Saturday.
Nana Owusu Akyaw Obrempong in his subsequent address after the thanksgiving service on Sunday, he bemoaned the upsurge of various social vices like stealing, wee smoking, among others among the youth of Donkro Nkwanta following the area's lack of police officers.
According to the chief, there use to be police officers in the community but for a terrible incident which occurred in the Nkoranza South Municipality, got all the police officers transferred from the Municipality.
He chanced on the opportunity to remind the Regional Police Commander of Bono East and the IGP to reconsider the decision to deploy police officers to Donkro Nkwanta, Nkwabeng and its neighboring communities, since they have restored police officers back to Nkoranza.
Nana Akyaw Obrempong opined that without police officers in the area, the upcoming election will turn out tough for the community to bare.
The chief then cautioned both the youth and parents to be well vigilant at such crucial times in the world.
"Things have been very bad, with lot of criminals generated in the society all because lot parents has given their wards too much freedom to operate, such that they cannot be controlled," Nana Owusu Akyaw Obrempong chide.
