President-General of the Center of Awareness Global Peace Mission, Prof. Samuel Ato Duncan has admonished the need for Africa to redirect its path to sustainable global peace which appears the surest way in achieving the world's sustainable development goals.
According to him, Africa in a year waste $18 billion mainly on conflict which can improve the continent's GDP by 15-20 percent.
Prof. Samuel Ato Duncan again quizzed to ascertain how the sustainable development goals can be achieved should the world continually spend $19.1 trillion annually on violence and conflict only.
He made this statement in his address at the 4th public lecture and launch of the Blueprint For Sustainable Global Peace at the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, dubbed, "Unearthing the Purpose of Creation and Goal of Humanity, a Necessary Foundation for Attaining Sustainable Global Peace."
Prof. Duncan reiterated that should Africa and the world change its mindset and embrace the Blueprint For Sustainable Global Peace initiative, it will go far to help the world reduce poverty and subsequently achieve its goal for no poverty.
The Blueprint For Sustainable Global Peace, seeks to behold a peaceful nation and a world free from ethnic and political conflict, political and social injustices, religious intolerance, terrorism, dictatorship, poverty, greed, corruption, immorality and disease.
The programme garnered astute personalities from all walks of life, as the International Conference Centre was filled to capacity with the presence of the revered Ga Mantse, Hon. Hassan Ayariga, the Presidential Candidate for APC, Mr. Kofi Koranteng, an Independent Presidential Candidate in Ghana's upcoming general election, and AMG Medikal, a celebrated Ghanaian artiste.
Also in attendance was a representative of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, President of the Ghana Journalist Association, a representative of the Electoral Commission, Queen Mothers of the Central Region and Ga State, among many others.
Speaking as Chairman for the occasion, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru ll, the Ga Mantse hailed Prof. Duncan for his global peace initiative and eulogized the importance of the Blueprint For Sustainable Global Peace.
He noted that the peace Ghana and the world seeks to enjoy, actually begins with an individual before all will come to a realization of loving each other in an atmosphere of loving all and hating non.
Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalist Association on his account pledged the GJA's unwavering commitment in ensuring peace before, during and after the forthcoming polls, affirming that without peace, millions of people in the world will suffer from violence, displacement, and instability capable of hindering their social progress and development.
Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, who now works as the Head of Training Department for the Electoral Commission, ratified the commission's stance to ensure that the choice of Ghanaians becomes the next president and parliamentarians through a fair and transparent election, worthy to go down the annals of Ghana as the best election ever.
He, therefore, called on the collective effort of all stakeholders to make the reaffirmed commitment of the EC become a reality.
