Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong made this assertion on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the 1st session of the 57th congregation of the University of Cape Coast, which emerge Ghana and West Africa's top-most ranked university according to the Times Higher University Rankings.
According to the UCC VC, the peaceful transition of power is a cornerstone of democracy and consequently chanced on the opportunity to charge graduands to actively promote peace at their respective communities by engaging in dialogue and fostering understanding among different political views.
He reiterated the need for all to emulate the veep's spirit by advocating for reconciliation and collaboration regardless of one's political affiliation.
Most Rev. Titus Awotwi-Pratt, the Acting Chairman of the UCC Governing Council at the graduation ceremony, notified graduands on the vital role they play in shaping the future of their communities and nation Ghana.
He urged graduands to let every challenge they encounter hold the potential for innovation, leadership and meaningful contributions, as their period of study at the university did not only equip them with academic knowledge, but also the ability to think critically, adopt to change and create solutions.
Chairman of the UCC Governing Council again observed that the ideas and ventures of graduands can provide solutions to unemployment to countless individuals in the country.
He opined that graduands education obtained, empowers them to be problem solvers to lead their communities whether through health initiatives and cultural achievements or through technological solutions, since their effort carry the potential to enhance the quality of lives of those around them.
The well-attended ceremony saw the graduation of 1,759 students of the university's Institute of Education of the College of Education Studies who pursued the three-semester programme on the sandwich mode of learning in the 2023/2024 academic year.
89 students out of the graduating students passed out with a First-Class honours, while 1,090 graduated with Second-Class honours (upper division), as 488 graduands obtained Second-Class honours (lower division), 91 graduands passed out with Third-Class as 1 student graduated with a Pass.
