Madam Akua Amponsaa Owusu, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Head of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has cautioned all food vendors to through medical examination or be prosecuted.
She said also advised the general public be mindful of what they patronize and consume by ensuring that they bought food from hygienic places prevent contamination.
Madam Owusu gave the advice in an interview with the media on the side-lines of an education and sensitization training programme by the Authority for milling machine operators.
It was attended by groundnut millers, onion, pepper and tomatoes grinders, fufu machine operators, corn millers and flour mixers.
They were schooled on food safety environmental cleanliness and personal hygiene to ensure proper milling practices so that food handlers and processors produce or sell only wholesome food for public consumption.
Madam Owusu said training was organised based on consumer complaints and fact-finding exercise conducted by the Authority revealing the unhygienic condition of some milling machine shops.
There is therefore the need sensitize the participants for them to adhere to food safety principles as well as the dos and don'ts in food handling and safety.
Madam Owusu said the Public Health Act 851, Act 2012 mandated the Authority to prosecute culprits.
She also advised food vendors to place waste bins around and ensure proper drainage system to keep their surroundings cleans.
