The Central Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has proactively deployed fire personnel to highly patronized entertainment centres and some high risk areas in the region to ensure fire safety and easy evacuation in case of emergency.
Speaking during the deployment, the Central Regional Fire Commander, ACFOII Merinda Mary Attigah-Mensah emphasized that the safety of the region is the responsibility of the service hence the need to provide fire cover to these areas during the festive season.
She added that, these premises were earlier inspected to ensure they meet basic fire safety measures, however, human activities need to be monitored especially during these seasons.
The personnel will ensure that these premises stay in line with fire safety precautions as patrons of these premises will be monitored to ensure their activities does not compromise the safety of the premises.
There will as well be a patrol team that will be patrolling the streets and other entertainment and event centres to respond to calls from the deployed fire officers.
She used the opportunity to advise the public to ensure that they celebrate in moderation and ensure that they prioritize their safety.
