Gari sellers at the Nana Bosoma Central Market in the Sunyani Municipality are crying about poor sales due to increased prices in the basic food items.
During a visit to the central market, the sellers said most of their customers were not buying because of the price increase in gari due to high cost of living now.
In an interview with Sompa FM the sellers said they had increase the price of gari because corn millers had also increase the cost of milling.
They also attributed the increase price of the food item because of the increase of lorry fares, saying they bought the cassava from farm gates to prepare the dough.
One of the sellers at the market only known as Madam Cecilia appealed to the government to facilitate the reduction of petroleum products that would accordingly lead to the decrease in transport fares.
Esther, a student lamented that the quantity of gari she used to buy at GHCS is now pegging at GHC25, and appealed to the government to do something immediately about the increasing price of gari and other consumables.
