The Minority Leader and MP for Effutu constituency in the Central Region Alexander Afenyo Markin has raised concerns about the outbreak of Cholera in his constituency.
Presenting a statement on the floor Afenyo Markin indicated that the Effutu Municipal Health Directorate has officially called on the Ministry of Health for urgent attention.
According to him, the Effutu Municipal Health Directorate has recorded 412 cholera cases which had taken away three lives.
The Effutu Legislature discharged his displeasure over the pressure and stress being imposed on the Winneba Municipal Hospital, Winneba Health Centres and the UEW Clinic he lamented that the facilities are flooded with affected people.
He added that, most of the cases recorded are from the shores according to him, the Municipal Health Director is requesting for operation expenses such as funds for fuel, sanitation efforts and procurement of urgent supplies, emergency medical supplies and treatment kits.
He revealed that, he has supported the Assembly with funds and has also given out one pickup for announcement to sensitization in the communities on how they will keep their surroundings clean to halt the rise of cholera.
The first Deputy Speaker Benard Ahiafo presiding at the time directed that the Minister of Health appears before the house and address members on measures put in place to bring an end to cholera or curb it in the country.
