A 24-year-old mobile money vendor , referred to only as ‘Junior’, has reportedly been killed in his single-room flat in Kwadaso, located in the Ashanti region.
The unidentified attackers are said to have fled with an unspecified sum of money.
The deceased, who operates his MoMo business at the Kwadaso Onion Market, was discovered in a pool of blood in his bedroom.
Witnesses assert that the victim came back home on Saturday evening carrying a considerable sum of money, which they believe could have made him vulnerable to the assault.
“A neighbor remarked, ‘He generally returns home with large amounts of cash after finishing work.
He likely drew the notice of the thieves, resulting in his assault."
The authorities have initiated an inquiry into the situation, but no one has been apprehended.
In the previous month, a 27-year-old MoMo vendor named Patricia Nimako was fatally shot in Krofrom, Kumasi. The alleged armed thieves fled with ten thousand Ghana cedis and several mobile phones.
The details of the police inquiry aimed at capturing the suspects are still unclear.
For the people living in Kwadaso, an increase in security in the area will help alleviate their sense of fear.
A resident stated, "We are presently in a state of fear, and we urge the Ashanti regional police command to enhance security in Kwadaso."
