Treasurer for the Central Regional Poultry Farmers Association and CEO of Amonoo Farms and Consult, Madam Aisha Mohammed has urged fellow women to fully embrace the ruling NDC government's soon to roll out 'Nkoko Nkitinkiti' project.
She implored women in the country to eschew all forms of extravagant lifestyles for a more productive and profitable venture to better the living condition of their families like the 'Nkoko Nkitinkiti' programme.
Narrowing her attention on female students in secondary schools, she charged that it's about time the notion surrounding the agric sector to be a reserved field for males is discarded.
According to her, Ghanaian women stands a huge chance of benefiting vastly from agriculture, since a few of them in the sector sort to be recouping a lot.
She made this statement in an engagement with the media at the Central Regional poultry farmers workshop held in Cape Coast on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
Madam Aisha Mohammed further made a clarion call to women in general to prioritize agriculture, particularly poultry farming as an important sector to invest.
She reiterated her solemn support for the 'Nkoko Nkitinkiti' project as a good policy and wish everyone comes onboard when the programme finally takes effect, in other to help the country find a lasting solution to its alarming employment rate.
With a firm assurance by the ruling government to cut down on importation, especially on chicken and eggs to generate employment for the youth and enhance the potency of the Ghanaian currency, the 'Nkoko Nkitinkiti' project forms part of government's structured measures to carry out such assignment.
The project seeks to offer interested poultry farmers with young domestic fowls to rear on free acquisition for food, exportation and employment purposes, with the programme expected to benefit not less than 55,000 households across the country and save the country over $300 million of money spent on poultry imports per annum.
