Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has acknowledged his recent legal ordeal, stating that the experience has strengthened his resolve and made him a better person.
His remarks follow an $18 million defamation lawsuit won by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in the United States.
The verdict, delivered by a jury in Essex County, New Jersey, marked a significant legal victory for Anas. The former Assin Central MP has appealed the verdict by the jury, which is yet to be heard.
Speaking to a group of supporters, Agyapong expressed appreciation for their unwavering support and urged them to remain calm despite the outcome.
“This indicates that you appreciate the efforts that I am going through to speak for the voiceless. So, I will say that we should all stay calm, nobody should worry. Anybody who tries to speak the truth and fight for the voiceless will go through this ordeal.
“In fact, this ordeal has made me a better person to fight and defend the country and the voiceless,” he stated.
