Islamic Scholar and Director of Zaitun Dawah Institute of Research at Cicero in Washington (USA), Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Awal has implored fellow Muslims to live a life worth emulating to ward-off the perception others have about Muslims across the globe.
According to him, Muslims are fiercely observed by the world to be judged on the slightest wrong committed. Thus, the need for all to live courteously.
He admonished Muslims to be mindful and ascertain that whatever they do is in abject conformity with the standard teachings and religion of Islam.
Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Awal made this address in an interaction with Sompa News Eric Annan at the Eid prayers held in Cape Coast on Monday.
He again chanced on the opportunity to advocate peace among various religions in the country. Stating that without peace there will be a lot of division as witnessed in many countries across the world.
Chief Imam of the Central Region, Sheikh Abdul Rashed Iddris Tijjani, at the event expressed deep concern over the growing number of cholera cases being recorded in the Region.
In response, he announced that the Regional Secretariat of the Chief Imam will soon initiate a comprehensive sanitation education campaign across various mosques.
The objective is to raise awareness and educate the community on effective hygiene practices that can significantly reduce the spread of such outbreaks.
The event which witnessed the gracing of the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Okyere Panyin Eduamoah, consequently saw him share deep concerns over the poor maintenance of sanitation among citizenry of the Region.
He blamed such ill-character among citizenry in the Region to have fueled the spread of Cholera which has left the Region spend a lot in battling the outbreak for months now, coupled with the purchasing of vaccines to tackle the disease in his short period as Regional Minister.
In view of this, the Regional Minister beseeched the Muslim community to uphold pragmatic sanitation model, than wait to react after being engulf by filth, since cost incurred for clean-ups is twice costlier than products often used to dirty the environment.
