The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Okyere Panyin Eduamoah has expressed worry over the demise of police officer, Constable John Kwabena Dogbe, who met his untimely death on Wednesday, April 2 at Assin Asaman during a galamsey swoop at the area.
The Regional Minister in his shared condolatory message to the bereaved family, has assured to administer that police officers in the Region obtain adequate protective kits to position them well in the combat against galamsey.
Speaking to the media following a briefing at the Central North Regional Police Headquarters in Assin Fosu on Friday, Hon. Ekow Okyere Panyin revealed the Region's resilience in combating galamsey in the Central Region, particularly within the Assin enclave, amid the death of a police officer.
He appealed on government to well resource police officers, to better tackle the rampant galamsey activities in the Region.
DCOP Abraham Acquaye, Police Commander of the Central North Police Commander, identified the demised police officer to be his personal driver and recounted to have officially reached to the family of the diseased officer in Ablekuma (Accra) on the tragic incident surrounding his death.
According to him, other officers who went together with the late police officer, following the outcome, became tensed and had to be psyched through a psychological debriefing to ease them for the hectic task ahead.
