On Monday, May 19, 2025, the management of Sompa FM, Accra, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs at the Authority.
Leading the delegation was Mrs. Akosua Ago Aboagye, General Manager of Sompa FM. She was joined by Mr. Nicholas Korang, Marketing Manager; Mrs. Claribel Arthur, Administration Manager; Mr. Prince Atta-Boateng, News Editor; Mr. Jeremiah Simpson, Researcher; and Mr. Ransford Osei, Social Media Officer.
Dr. Aggrey warmly welcomed the team and expressed appreciation for their visit. He commended Sompa FM for its innovative approach and recognized the media house as a rising force within Ghana’s media landscape.
During the engagement, Dr. Aggrey unveiled a series of upcoming programs and initiatives by the Ghana Tourism Authority. Notably, Sompa FM became the first media outlet to be formally briefed on these initiatives—a testament to the station’s growing national relevance and influence.
The upcoming activities include flagship events such as Accra Woezor, PANAFEST, a 40-day cultural celebration, World Tourism Month, and the National Cooking Competition. Dr. Aggrey placed particular emphasis on “December in GH”, announcing that applications to host events are open until June 16, 2025, with the GTA committed to endorsing, supporting, and promoting selected events.
He also highlighted the Authority’s continued engagement with traditional festivals across the country and the forthcoming National Tourism Awards, which aim to celebrate excellence in the tourism sector. A key highlight of the meeting was the introduction of a year-long campaign titled “The Black Star Experience,” scheduled to run from December 1 to January 3, showcasing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Akosua Ago Aboagye expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Aggrey and Mr. Kusi for their warm reception. She commended Dr. Aggrey’s visionary leadership and wished him continued success in his role.
Marketing Manager Mr. Nicholas Korang echoed her sentiments and conveyed the station’s appreciation for the exclusive insights. He reaffirmed Sompa FM’s readiness to collaborate closely with the Ghana Tourism Authority.
News Editor Mr. Prince Atta-Boateng also assured the Authority of Sompa FM’s unwavering commitment to supporting tourism through media partnerships and the consistent promotion of national events.
