The Nkawkaw Police Command has launched an investigation into a fatal shooting incident that left three people dead in Nkawkaw, the capital of the Kwahu West Municipality, on the evening of Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
According to eyewitness accounts, the victims—believed to be members of the Fulani community—were resting at their usual gathering point when unknown gunmen ambushed and opened fire on them without provocation.
While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, preliminary information from the police suggests the incident may be linked to a Fulani-related dispute or misunderstanding. Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities and say a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances.
The three deceased have been transported to the morgue for preservation and autopsy. One other victim, who sustained gunshot injuries, is currently receiving treatment at a nearby health facility.
The Nkawkaw Police Command has assured the public that all efforts are being made to track down the perpetrators. They also appealed for calm and cooperation from the community as investigations continue.
An official statement from the police is expected within the next few hours as the situation develops.
