Two "weed" smokers on Sunday May 29, around 5:30 pm in Akyem Achiase in the Achiase district of the Eastern region engaged in a heated argument at a "weed base" which resulted in fighting and one stabbing the other with a kitchen knife many times to death as reported by the media.

Information given to the media by eyewitnesses indicate that a 32year old man by name of Kofi Kwakye popularly called "Tompoo" stabbed his 33year friend Dominic Kwame Ofori also known as "Koliko" to death after a heated argument over his girlfriend's snatching issue.

John Bamfo Amoah (a.k.a JB) who got to the scene immediately after the incident told the media that both friends have already engaged in a fight at the galamsey site some time ago on the claims that the other is going out with his girlfriend but the issue was resolved but later met again at the "weed base" yesterday evening resulted into a fight again.

He revealed that "Tompoo" the killer was already having the kitchen knife on him and immediately after the fight begun, he pulled it and stabbed his friend "Koliko" and ran away after realizing that he was dead.

 The police intelligence picked up information that the wife was meeting him, they tracked her steps and later his wife was arrested by Achiase police command upon tip-off when the husband runaway leaving his wife behind.

An eye witness who spoke on anonymity expressed worry about the frustration the people in Akyem Achiase are going through at the hands of "weed smokers" due to the increasing number of "weed base" in the community while the authorities are unconcern about the development.
