The deputy minister of energy who doubles as the member of parliament for the people of Afigya Kwabre South, Hon William Owuraku Aidoo has thrown shades at his constituents describing them as "ignorant" of the duties of a parliamentarian.
He said this in a telephone interview with Omanhene Adu Boakye on the Sompa Tv morning show.
His statement was in response to the complaints from his constituents about his failure to construct and patch dilapidated roads in the constituency.
The Wednesday edition of the Sompa morning show dubbed Kawasem allows the audience to voice out their grievances, the majority of the people from Afigya Kwabre complain bitterly about the bad roads and the minister's death ears to the raging issues.
"The stretch road from Bouho to Atimatim, Atimatim to the new site, atimatim to cocoa ano, were given to the contractor in November ahead of the 2020 general election but right after the elections, the contractor evacuated, a caller lamented."
In response to the claims, the member of Parliament refuted the claims, insisting the people are ignorant of his duties, and what he is doing to make sure the roads are awarded to a contractor.
"there's a pleasure on our roads, people have migrated to my constituency, so it has become a dormitory constituency, but it's not deliberate, myself and the member of parliament for Kwabre East, Francisca Oteng have tried our best on our roads, as it stands, the minister for roads has authorized the stretch road from Meduma to Atimatim junction, from Mpobi to Swedru, Bomso to Krobo and others but there is no contractor to award the contract, he said.
He further assured the people, “I will plead with them to exercise constraints, i understand their plight, i will plead with them to exercise a little patience, I am doing my best, it's not as if every road in Ghana has been constructed leaving only Afigya Kwabre South, it's a national problem, He said.
According to the deputy minister, Afigya Kwabre South is under feeder roads and not urban roads, and he is working assiduously to have the district move to Municipal.
