The Chiefs and People of Old Drobo, a dominantly farming community in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region have sought the assistance of the local deity to deal decisively with people who attempted to do human sacrifices in the area to acquire wealth and power.

According to the chiefs, rumours of ‘money rituals’ circulating in the area had created extreme fear and panic among the people, hence the need for the intervention of the local deity and ancestors in the area.

Kyeame (chief linguist) Kofi Nyamekye, who led the chiefs and other opinion leaders in the community to the local shrine in the area poured libation and invoked curses on the alleged and potential ritual murders invading the community.

“We plead with the local deity and our ancestors to help apprehend money ritualists who want to dirty the image of the good people and expose the Old Drobo community into public ridicule and disrepute”, he said.

 “Our community for the past nine months has been greeted with mysterious and bizarre tags about the activities of money ritualists and we want you to expose, name and shame them for us”, Kyeame Nyamekye, who was flanked by some sub-chiefs indicated.

“Nanannom in fact information is circulating around our community. You fought for us that some people are performing money rituals. We don’t have the spiritual eyes to see them, but we believe you have, so we call on you this afternoon to assist us to arrest them through this libation”, he added.
