The deputy minister for Agric in charge of crops, Hon Yaw Frimpong has admitted in an interview with sompa news that there were enough food stuffs in the country whiles admitting that irrespective of, that price of food keep increasing every day at the expense of the public.
The minister however attributed the high prices of food items to transportation cost and the excessive profiteering engineered by most of the market traders while adding that the government is putting measures in place to bring the process down.
He indicated that there should be a way out to tackle and find amicable solutions to the high price tag on food which has contributed to the scarcity of food stuff in the country; he added that Ghanaians could not continue to buy food at the very high price while there is abundance of food in various farming communities.
In addition, he assured that the government intends to engage some commercial trucks to ensure that the foods are brought to the market at a relatively cheaper price.
He discussed this in an interview with Omanhene Adu Boakye on Sompa Morning Show on Monday 15th August, 2022.
