Residents of Kumasi are calling on parliament of Ghana to expedite plans to enact laws to criminalize witch-craft accusations in the country.
The concern residents of Kumasi in an interview with sompa news indicated that the law would help end the usual misunderstanding that ensued between parents and wards, as well to ensure the aged are spared the shame of accusations of being witches and wizards.
This come on the background that the chief executive officer of the Ghana Mental Authority, Dr Akwasi Osei disclosed that Ghana’s parliament was in the process of formulation a legislation that would criminalize witches accusation in the country.
Dr Akwasi Osei disclosed in a conversation with sompa news that individuals who tend to accuse others for failure in life must rather do humble introspection of their character.
He also maintained that individuals who are accused or claim to be witches themselves are rather experiencing psychological issues in life.
In a random interview to seek public’s view, majority feel the psychological trauma that the accusers go through has the tendency of putting one’s life in danger and therefore call on parliament to accelerate the process to enact a law to protect accusers especially the aged.
