The National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joseph Yamin has emphatically stated that the NDC is disappointed and unhappy about the 'disobedience' of some of the party’s Members of Parliament who joined hands with the NPP to vote for the six(6) ministers appointed by the President.
Joseph Yamin in an interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, host of Sompa TV's Adea Akye Abiaa show clarified that the leadership of the party mandated the NDC parliamentary caucus to place national interest over personal interest by voting against the six ministers.
However, to their surprise, some of the NDC MPs voted to approve the nominees against the orders of the leadership.
Mr. Yamin elaborated that the NDC leadership's instruction stemmed from the current economic crises facing the country, emphasizing that the disapproval of the ministers was a well-orchestrated measure to reduce the size of the government.
"We knew that the NDC's directive will be difficult to obey or follow. But we expected our parliamentary caucus to exhibit a high level of commitment to the NDC party."
Many members of the National Democratic Congress including Former President John Mahama have called out some NDC MPs who passed all six NPP ministers when the party has agreed to do otherwise.
He expressed his displeasure in a hard-hitting Facebook post, urging that those responsible for this betrayal must do some serious soul-searching and learn to place national interest over personal interest.
