The Bosomtwe constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Aikins Addai Poku says, Hon Bryan Acheampong should retract his instigating statements and rectify the error.
According to him, the Agric Minister could have avoided that statement and qualified his utterance by clarifying that the country will be improved before 2024 such that Ghanaians out of enthusiasm will maintain the NPP government.
He was commenting on Bryan Acheampong's statement that has been widely condemned by the general public that NPP won't hand over power to the NDC in 2024.
Speaking on Sompa FM's Ade Akye Abiaa show Monday April 11, the NPP chairman declared, "anyone who will instigate violence in the country will not succeed."
"He could have said that NDC is eager to win the 2024 elections. But due to an improved economy before the elections, Ghanaians will ultimately maintain the NPP to continue the good work. But when you make a statement that you will not hand over power, it is ambiguous and leaves room for an array of interpretations", Addai Poku stressed.
He mentioned that Hon. Acheampong got carried away with the fans and cheers adding that Ghanaians are discerning hence they will not endorse anything that will spark violence.
"Bryan's statements have been misconstrued. But it is his fault. As politicians, you should construct your statements and let them end well. So that you leave no room for people to misinterpret your words. So I advise that he should repackage his statement and come back to rectify the error", he emphasized.
According to the Bosomtwe NPP Chairman, Bryan Acheampong's statement differs from the Suame NDC Youth Organizer's statement consequently, the two cases should be treated differently.
"Comparing it to the Suame Youth Orgnizer's comment, there is a clear difference. Hon Acheampong did not incite anarchy and chaos.
On the other hand, the Suame Youth Organizer did, by encouraging NDC members in the country to kill, if that is what will make them win the elections." Addai Poku clarified.
