The Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned a five-storey office complex of the Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS).
Dr. Bawumia at the commissioning expressed appreciation to the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), Mrs. Irene Naa Torshie Addo for supporting such a laudable initiative and acknowledged the significant milestones chalked by the Local Government Service (LGS) and the OHLGS since its inception.
He expressed his belief that the ultra-modern office complex would provide staff of the OHLGS the needed conducive working environment to work effectively and increase productivity and their mandate.
According to the Vice President, one of Government’s initiatives over the years, in bringing governance closer to the citizenry led to the establishment of the LGS. He challenged the Head of the Local Government Service, and his management team, the Local Government Service Council (LGSC), and staff of the OHLGS to assiduously broaden their horizon and blaze the trial in local government administration as a dividend of the monumental office complex.
He opined that though a number of global factors have limited government’s resource towards the National decentralization drive, he used the opportunity to admonish the LGS to leverage on digital technology to enhance revenue mobilization to support Government interventions.
In his remark, the Head of Service, Ing Dr. Nana Ato Arthur expressed appreciation to the Vice President, dignitaries, and the entire gathering for gracing the occasion. He also expressed his deepest appreciation to the administrators of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Hon. Naa Torshie Addo Lartey, and her office for funding the building of the modern office complex for the OHGLS.
Dr. Arthur assured the Vice President that management of the OHLGS would ensure that the provision of the office complex will ultimately lead to productivity and better the image of the LGS as an institution mandated to provide administrative decentralization in the country.
The office complex consists of Six Hundred (600)-seater auditorium, a boardroom, library, terrace, two (2) general conference rooms and Forty (40) office accommodation to house staff of the OHLGS.
