A Deputy National General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mustapha Foyo Gbande has assured that if it will take the party and its members to hold a vigil in all polling stations in the Kumawu Constituency to ensure it wins the seat in all electoral process in the by-election then that will happen.
Speaking about the NDC’s preparedness for the elections, the deputy scribe for the party noted that, all has been done to make sure the will of the people is not usurped in the upcoming by-election as it is important on their to-do list.
“We don’t need to train our people; we are more than prepared. You only have to fail to learn, if you don’t fail you don’t learn, we have gone for an election and the party has demonstrated good faith that it is willing to entrust people like us. Do I look like somebody NPP can compromise; do I look like somebody who is scared of any element in NPP?” he asked.
“We are going to win Kumawu, for the first time the NPP will see Ghanaians including women sleeping at the polling stations to wait for their votes to be counted, anything short of that will see an uprising’, he warned.
The Kumawu parliamentary seat was declared vacant following the death of the party’s sitting Member of Parliament, Philip Basoah.
Both the NPP and opposition NDC are claiming they will win the seat as the by-election will be a verdict on what is to come in the 2024 general elections.
The New Patriotic Party(NPP) on Sunday held its primaries to select a candidate for the by-election.
Ernest Yaw Anim, the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate-elect for the Kumawu constituency has promised to mend the cracks in the party to win the seat during the May 23 by-election.
The NDC candidate Kwasi Amakwah popularly known as TOM C has also assured of winning the seat to show the party’s popularity in Kumawu.
