The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah and a team from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council on 21 April 2023 called on the Indian high commissioner to Ghana H.E. Mr. Sugandh Rajaram.
Among the team from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council were the Chief Director, Mrs. Emelia Ayebeng Botwe, the Regional Development Planning Officer, Mrs. Beatrice Kwarteng, Madam Gloria Gambrah, Special Assistant to the Regional Minister and Mr. Samuel Bamfo Dankwah from the Public Relations Unit of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.
The visit was mainly meant to strengthen ties between the Ashanti Region and India.
Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah indicated that strides to market businesses in the Region are ongoing, with periodic organization of business exhibitions, where most local businesses exhibit their products amidst beautiful cultural display. This, according to the Minister is an initiative that can be given more push through strategic partnership with India by leveraging on business capacity forums organized by India.
Other areas that according to the Minister, the Ashanti Region can collaborate with India are education, capacity building and the energy.
The Indian high commissioner to Ghana H.E. Mr. Sugandh Rajaram expressed the view that through the building of sister city relationship, the Region can forge stronger ties with the business community in India for mutual benefit.
