Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has justified the country’s 17th time engagement of yet another credit facility from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) saying "there are currently 29 African countries excluding Ivory Coast and Tunisia who are all in need of the programme at the moment."
He has therefore insisted that the nation's 17th time IMF loan programme has nothing to do with the mismanagement of the economy, adding that Ghana was doing well with good governance policies and programmes until the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic and the Russia- Ukraine war.
He posited, “Every Ghanaian would bear with me that the country was doing well before the COVID-19 and the Russian-Ukraine war. Due to good programs put in place in the 2017 everything was going on well.”
The President was speaking at Kumawu in Saturday during the NPP’s last rally ahead of the crucial Tuesday bye- elections.
He further claimed that the giving out of the facility by the Bretton Wood Institution in the first place was an indication that those in charge of the country have the economic worth-while to negotiate for the best for the people.
Speaking on former President John Mahama’s come back, President Akuffo Addo said there was no way Ghanaians would entertain his second coming since his administration has introduced good programs such as the Free SHS, adding that, "Ghanaians have not experienced dumsor under my tenure."
