The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Central Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Kofi Aseidu has said that the party in the pending Assin North by-election will go every length to cut off its political arch-rival New Patriotic Party (NPP) from carrying out any unauthorized activity as executed at the just ended Kumawu by-election.
According to him, the NPP is hell burnt on replicating its displayed antics of sharing money coupled with other deceptive gimmicks showcased at Kumawu to score cheap political points in the yet-to-be-slated Assin North by-election.
An activity he recounted the Central Region NDC Executives will never sit aloof to watch materialized the second time.
He opined the NDC will match the NPP boot-for-boot in the Assin North by-election should the party dare to repeat its unwarranted vote buying displayed in the Kumawu by-election which he bears witness to, having been a polling agent during the election.
Prof. Aseidu made this statement in a press briefing held at the Central Region NDC Party Office in Cape Coast on Thursday.
Speaking to Sompa TV/FM's Eric Annan at the presser, Prof. Kofi Aseidu assured the Elephant Fraternity of a healthy cooperation should they endeavor for fairness to reign, else will have the NDC Regional Executives to contend with should they (the NPP) try any dubious means to snatch power at Assin North.
He said that the Central Regional NDC Executives are one of the youngest executives the region has ever elected, hence won't trade the party's future for anything else not alone watch the NPP trample on their right all in the name of campaigning for power.
The Chairman assured that the party will do all it could to retain the Assin North seat for the NDC even if they're to forcefully replace embattled Gyakye Quayson with a new candidate.
He advised indigenes of Assin North to collect any amount offered them by the NPP during the by-election which comes from Gyakye Quayson's accumulated common fund but vote against them to foster development in the constituency.
Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu over the aforementioned development on Thursday, May 25, 2023, met the party's Regional and Assin North Executives in a close door meeting to strategize on how to sink out the plan of the NPP with regards to the Assin North by-election.
