Member of Parliament for Assin Central and flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has submitted his nomination forms to contest in the party’s primaries.
The Assin Central lawmaker together with some supporters arrived at the party’s headquarters in Accra to submit his forms.
His submission means a total of eight (8) aspirants have submitted forms ahead of the deadline scheduled for Saturday, June 24, 2023.
Speaking briefly to the media after the submission, Ken Agyapong vowed to tackle the rate of unemployment in the country.
“As a member of Parliament for the past 23 years, I have to admit that the challenge for the government has been unemployment, and therefore I have taken it upon myself to reduce the unemployment rate in the country”, Ken Agyapong said.
He added that to move the country forward, jobs must be created for the youth.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong will face competition from former General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trades Minister Alan Kyerematen, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, Dr. Konadu Apraku, former Agric Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Kojo Poku who have all filed nomination.
Vetting of aspirants is scheduled for July 3, 2023, and ends July 6, 2023, while the National delegates will be held on November 4, 2023.
