Husband of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporter who died during the party's flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama's campaign at Dansame, Mr. Yaw Sarfo has expressed excitement over the triumphant victory of James Gyakye Quayson in the just ended Assin North by-election.
The embattled Member of Parliament who had his name expunged from parliament over dual citizenship, thus vied the second time to reclaim his displaced position as MP for the Assin North Constituency in a fiercely contested by-election on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 had the people of the area elect him yet again to be their lawmaker.
Speaking on Gyakye Quayson's victory to Sompa News' Eric Annan, the bereaved husband who lost his wife, Dora Afia Sarfo on Friday, June 16, 2023 while campaigning for the re-elected MP said, his enemies who have been lambasting him over circumstances surrounding his spouse's death would've gain better grounds to reign more insults at him should the outcome of the election go the other way.
The bereaved husband prior to the Assin North by-election appealed to constituents of the area to vote massively for Gyakye Quayson to have the spirit of his late wife obtain a cool rest.
He recounted that Gyakye Quayson's win from Tuesday's poll saw his children fall into ecstasy upon hearing results of the election which somehow relieved him off the pains the demise of his wife has placed him in.
According to him, his deceased wife has a pure spirit having answered to his prayers offered to her to aid James Gyakye Quayson emerge victorious a night to the by-election.
Yaw Sarfo disclosed that a defeat to Gyakye Quayson would've been a big jab to his face, as he would've been mourning the death of his wife, the candidate's lose as well as the plight of his children. And will have subsequently had people say that his wife died a useless death.
Meanwhile, he remarked being unbothered not to have heard from party officials to congratulate him on its success achieved in the just ended by-election but attributes it to the joyous mode the NDC currently finds itself in, hence assumes will cross the minds of party officials to do the needful when the period of excitement tones down.
He again urged all to rubbish earlier claims which suggested his family had cross carpet to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following its Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako's visit to the family to offer a donation for the preparation towards his wife's final funeral rites to be cheap propaganda.
Mr. Sarfo who doubles as the Assin Dansame NDC Chairman disclosed that the NPP at the time of his wife's one-week celebration declined attending the program even when he served them an official letter.
