The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Organizer for Agona West Constituency in the Central Region, Sam Toys has allegedly butchered a National Democratic Congress (NDC) fellow after an ensued argument at the Electoral Commission's ongoing limited registration exercise at the municipality.
This came after an attempt by the NPP members to prevent the victim and his NDC officials from sending a number of suspected minors to the center for registration which brought about a heated chaos between the two groups.
Suspect Sam Toys in the process, drew out a machete from nowhere and slashed it on the head of the NDC officer.
Victim was then rushed to the hospital where he's currently responding to treatment under stiff medical attention.
The NDC following this incident has sworn never to rely on the Ghana Police Service during political or national event but on its internal security since the attack on its comrade isn't the first to have happen to its member under the full glance of the police, as the party bemoans there has never been a conclusive outcome to perpetrators of such offences whenever reported.
Samuel Ametepey, the Agona West NDC Deputy Organizer in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan attributed occurrence of the violence to the EC’s decision to centralize the nationwide registration only at its district offices.
The Constituency's NPP Secretary, Kofi Osei has however denied the involvement of his party in the ensued chaos.
