Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, a Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and ardent activist of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the Vice President, Dr Bawumia may emerge winner in the party's Presidential primaries but cannot win the 2024 general elections.
He said the likelihood of former President John Mahama or any other candidate of the NPP winning is higher than presenting Dr Bawumia in the election.
He explained that the conducts of the party executives in relation to the 2024 flagbearership race, especially the circumstances that led to Mr Alan Kyeremanteng's resignation is inappropriate.
"Alan Kyerematen’s decision to resign from the NPP and run as an Independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections has caused a stir within the party.
The controversy surrounding Kyerematen’s resignation has raised critical questions about the ownership and leadership of the NPP", he stressed.
Responses to Kyerematen’s resignation from the NPP and his decision to run as an Independent candidate have been met with mixed reactions. While some perceive his decision as a significant blow to the party, others view it as an opportunity for the party to strengthen its resolve and move forward.
Dr. Amoako Baah, speaking in an interview with Sompa News lamented the party is presently under the control of some few individuals. He said all Chairpersons and NPP MPs who have publicly declared their support for a particular aspirant have lost credibility. According to him, Alan establishing a good plan, surrounding himself with good people and political financiers will go a long way to aid his independent candidacy ambitions.
He added Mahama is likely to win the 2024 general elections if not another NPP candidate aside Dr Bawumia.
