A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono region has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of individuals whose negligence led to the collapse of financial institutions in the country
Theophilus Asomah -Cheremeh said, some of the customers of these collapse firms have lost their lives whilst others struggle to survive.
He was speaking on Sompa Ade Akyea Abiaa show in Sunyani on Wednesday when commenting on the aggrieved customers of now defunct Gold Coast Find Management Company who besieged premises of the finance ministry to demand their Lock-up funds.
The group says that GH¢8.6 billion approved by Parliament to settle their members is yet to get to its members.
The Securities and Exchange Commission revoked the company’s operating license in 2019 as part of the government’s financial sector clean-up.
Charles Nyame, convener of the aggrieved customers, lamented that over 800 of their members have died in the last five years due to the government’s refusal to pay their investments.
Mr Asomah-Cheremeh indicated the government must be proactive in responding to concerns raised by the customers.
He revealed being a victim of these collapsed company, saying "the monies we invested could have been used for something beneficiary."
The member of the Bono regional communication team wondered why those behind the collapse of the firm would walk freely to the detriment of the innocent citizens who invested their monies.
