The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Cape Coast North Constituency in the Central Region, Lawrence Ampah, affectionately referred to as 'Pablo' has encouraged youths across the country to inculcate the zeal to learn one technical skill or the other to propel them swerve poverty to emerge a boss on their own.
He echoed to Ghanaian youths, particularly males to note that each one in live has in his hands his own keys to the stomach, being his ability and willingness to survive on an acquired skill, devoid of the person's educational status as unemployed, government or salary worker.
Lawrence Ampah voiced this in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan at the inaugural ceremony of the Akotokyirman Technical Vocational Training Centre, set up to impact individuals within and outside the locality with modern technical skills at Akotokyir, a suburb of the Cape Coast North Constituency.
He propelled youths in the country not to act reluctant in acquiring skills like wielding, bread making, sugarcraft, electrician, masonry, fabrication or carpentry, as it isn't too late for them to extort education on these skills.
Signalling that one essential benefit associated in acquiring technical skill is the fact that it's retirement free, as witnessed at government institutions where long serving staffs are made to proceed on retirement.
The parliamentary aspirant further pleaded on subsequent governments to work its talk by resourcing technical and vocational institutions in the country having ascertained that technical education is the way to go as a developing country.
Nana Kojo Nyarko l, Mpuntuhene of Akotokyir sounded a clarion call to guys, both near and far to take keen interest to enroll at the training centre which has an insignificant number of males express interest to seek training at the free-to-all technical vocational training centre, having chanced on the opportunity to plead on benevolent individuals to aid the centre with enough logistics like sawing machines among others.
Manager for the training centre, Samuel Nana Tawiah relayed that first batch of students have been scheduled to spend a maximum of one year to graduate from the school which currently boost of twenty-seven (27) trainees of which three (3) appear lecturers of the University of Cape Coast with three guys as well.
He then disclosed the school of having a short term vision to be integrated among government's TVET Institutions across the country, hence appealed on government to offer any form of assistance it can to the training centre to aid it unearth enough technical giants from the centre.
