Bernard Oduro Takyi, a certified chartered economist and a Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has charged Ghanaian voters in the Mfantseman constituency of the Central region to kick out their Member of Parliament (MP) over lack of development.
He said the MP, Hon Ophelia Mensah has failed to deliver on her mandate of lobbying for developmental projects for the residents.
He said most of the youth in the constituency face the disheartening cycle of joblessness, contributing to reduced self-esteem, increased poverty rates and societal instability.
"I've heard some of the constituents say they will reward the MP the second time. However, I was amazed by the level of underdevelopment in the constituency when I arrived here."
"The NDC candidate, Dr Prince Arhin has a proven track record of lobbying for development, he is prepared to take the constituency to the next level", he stated.
Speaking at a mega 24-hour economy health walk in Mankessim, Mr Oduro Takyi said the people of the constituency lack motorable roads, portable drinking water, good lighting system and employment for the teeming youth.
"I was amazed by what I saw when I got to your constituency, I can't fathom why the MP would sit aloof whilst the teeming youth remain unemployed despite their numerous skills."
"The Mfantseman constituency lack portable drinking water, good roads and improved lighting system yet you have a Member of Parliament. You must be prepared to show him the red card this election.
The outspoken NDC national communication member also presented GHC 10,000 cash donation to the constituency as part of his personal initiative to support some 13-orphan constituencies of the party to win the 2024 general elections.
The constituencies were adopted by Mr Oduro Takyi as part of his personal initiative to support them.
The orphan constituencies include Dormaa East, Sunyani West, Sunyani East and Berekum West constituencies of the Bono region, Mpohor and Essikado Ketan constituencies of the Western region, Dome Kwabenya in the Greater Accra region and the Asunafo North constituency of the Ahafo region.
