Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Babgin, the Speaker of Parliament on Friday June 28 says parliament remains the spine of the nation's democracy and asked Ghanaians have confidence in the House.
"The evidence that our democracy truly exist is our parliament", he stated when speaking at the opening ceremony of a mock parliament and debate session, underway at the Sunyani Polytechnic Auditorium.
Attended by MPs, Ministers of State and students, the Parliamentary Service organised the session as part of activities to commemorate 30 years of uninterrupted parliamentary democracy in the country.
Speaker Bagbin, also advised MPs not to toy with their parliamentary responsibilities to sustain the trust and confidence of Ghanaians.
Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East expressed worry that the still grappling with the issues of poverty and corruption in the 30 years of the nation's democracy.
