The Convention People's Party (CPP) has thrown a challenge to NAPO, former Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South to debate on President Akufo-Addo's record versus Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's achievements in two weeks.
The debate is scheduled to take place at British Council Hall or NPP Headquarters in Accra, depending on NAPO's preference.
CPP highlighted Nkrumah's iconic achievement of leading Ghana to independence and his seven-year development plan, which focused on providing affordable energy for industrialization. They questioned what Akufo-Addo has done comparable to securing independence.
At a press conference, Director of communications of the CPP, Sylvester Sarpong acknowledged NAPO's apology for his derogatory comments on Nkrumah, but made it clear that the apology is appreciated but not accepted. He criticized NAPO's initial comments as disrespectful and derogatory towards Nkrumah's legacy.
The debate challenge comes as CPP seeks to emphasize Nkrumah's legacy and achievements, contrasting them with Akufo-Addo's record.
He however said, the debate is expected to be a intense battle of words, with CPP seeking to prove that Nkrumah's achievements surpass Akufo-Addo's record.
