A great number of persons in the National Democratic Congress on Saturday, July 20, turned out from all works of life to grace the Prof. John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills Peace Walk for Change, held in Cape Coast in the Central Region.
The colorful walk was organized in commemoration of the late Ghanaian President, Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills to create awareness for peace prior to the country's upcoming general election slated for December 7.
The walk garnered astute NDC members like former Youth and Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Hon. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, MP for Odododiodioo Constituency, Joseph Yamin, the National Organiser for NDC, Abigail Elorm Mensah, NDC National Deputy Women's Organizer, Henry Osei Akoto, Organizer for the walk, and the Acting NDC Central Regional Chairman.
Also in attendance was Ghana's longest serving Information Minister and the first National Security Minister in the 4th Republic, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, son of the Late Evans Atta-Mills, Samuel Kofi Atta-Mills, Hon. George Ricketts-Hagan, MP for Cape Coast South, Nana Ama Brown Klutse, Hon. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, MP for Cape Coast North, NDC Regional and Constituency Executives, among others.
Procession of the walk commenced from Siwdu, near the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium through to the Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills Residential Library, opposite the Cape Coast Castle.
Abigail Elorm Mensah, NDC National Deputy Women's Organizer after the peace walk, entreated youths gathered before the Atta-Mills Library to stand and fight for their future by voting right in the 2024 general election, since the December 7 polls hold the destiny of every young Ghanaian.
Acting NDC Central Regional Chairman, Ekow Panyin, charged the Inspector General of Police, George Akufo Dampare and the Ghana Police Service to ensure that peace and transparency prevails in the 2024 election.
He beseeched the IGP to paste the names and pictures of all security personnel to be deployed at every polling station, for the party to establish those mandated to mine every polling station in the pending general election.
Organizer for the peace walk and the 2020 NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Oforikrom Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Henry Osei Akoto, observed the ruling New Patriotic Party to be a deceptive government and urged constituents of the Central Region to wise up and hand power back to the NDC which has undoubtedly shown the Central Region enough love to be desired for.
Samuel Kofi Atta-Mills, Son of the late President, admonished the general public to embrace peace in the upcoming election, having had his late father portrayed as Ghana's beacon of peace in the country's political dispensation.
He recounted that the walk appears to be a pleasant birthday present to his late father, who would've turn 80years on Sunday when alive.
