"No government since the attainment of Independence of the nation has undertaken several health infrastructure works than the Akuffo Addo -Bawumia led New Patriotic Party government ", Dr Gideon Boako has stated.
Spokesperson for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia indicated that, government since 2017 has started and completed thirty-seven (37) health infrastructure projects nationwide which include district hospitals, polyclinics and health centres.
These projects, according to him are located at; Sefwi Akontombra, Bogoso, Elubo, Mpohor, Nsuaem, Wasa Dunkwa, Weta, Somanya, Tolong, Sawla, Buipe, Bamboi, Suame, Twede3, Sabronum, Drobonso Manso Nkawanta, Mim, Kwaabeng, Adukrom- Achiase, Jumapor and Nkwatia.
The rest are, Kpong Katamanso, Sefwi Asawinso, Ashaiman polyclinic, Adenta Obojo Polyclinic, Bortianor Plolyclinic, Oduman polyclinic, Sege polyclinic modernization of Tetteh Quarshie, Memorial hospital, Kibi district hospital, Aburi hospital, Atibie hospital Bolgatanga Regional Hospital Phase 3, Uro-Urology / Nephrology Centre at Korle-Bu, and the University of Ghana Medical centre Phase 2.
The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary candidate for Tano North Constituency of the Ahafo region speaking in an interview with Sompa FM in Sunyani on Saturday July 27 also revealed the government has completed some nine (9) health infrastructure projects started by the Kuffour administration and abandoned by the Mills-Mahama administration named the Euroget De Invest Projects.
The Euroget projects, Dr Boako stated include the Ga East municipal hospital completed in 2019, the Wa regional hospital completed in 2019, Tain district hospital completed in 2021, Tepa district hospital, Twifo Praso district hospital, Konongo Odumase district hospital, a 250-bed Ashanti regional hospital which is not yet commissioned, a 500-bed Afari military hospital and the Salaga district hospital.
Dr Gideon Boako indicated that the government has also started some fourteen (14) health infrastructure projects which are at various stages of completion.
“A 100-bed trauma Centre at Obuasi, Obuasi health Centre, 100-bed hospital at Anyinam, 40-bed Ngleshie hospital, 750-bed maternity and children block at Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital, 285-bed hospital at Koforidua, 100-bed hospital at Shama, 180-bed La General Hospital, 400-bed Tema hospital, Afia Nkwanta hospital, New Western regional hospital, Rehabilitation of National Diabetes Centre at Korle-Bu and the 100-bed Weija Gbawe hospital", he emphasized.
“These impressive health projects does not include the bold health infrastructure policy dubbed, "Agenda 111" which consist of district, regional and psychiatric hospitals”, he stressed.
