The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won all the orphan constituencies that was adopted by a certified economist and Member of the party.
Bernard Oduro Takyi, in a strategic move aimed at securing victory for the party in this year's election spearheaded a project targeting 14 orphan constituencies across the nation.
The initiative was to provide support to NDC Parliamentary aspirants contesting in constituencies where the party traditionally faces significant challenges.
A cash donation of GHC 10,000 and branded NDC T-shirts were distributed to the respective constituencies.
At the end of the polls, the Dormaa East constituency of the Bono region, the NDC's Rachel Owusuaa captured the seat with 12,310 votes to defeat the incumbent MP Paul Apraku Twum Barima.
Millicent Yeboah Amankwaa of the Sunyani West constituency polled 26,828 beating the Employment Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah who managed 19,715 votes.
Bentil Godfred Henry secured 11680 votes to unseat John Kobina Abbam Aboah Sanie from the Mpohor seat.
The NDC Mr Fiifi Buckman polled 15,927 votes to defeat Dr Prince Hamid Armah, the current Deputy Minister for Works and Housing and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim Constituency in the Western Region.
Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah had 26,166 to beat the NPPs Mr Charles Bissue who got 17,754 at the Essikado Ketan constituency.
In the Asunafo North constituency of the Ahafo region, Mohammed Haruna of the NDC secured 34,083 votes to beat Mr Evans Opoku Bobie, the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP), and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports who obtained 25,101 votes.
NDCs Pius Kwame Nkuah won the Sefwi Akotombra seat defeating the NPP MP, Hon Alex Tetteh Djornobuah.
Dr Prince Ebenezer Arhin beat the NPP Ophelia Mensah to capture the seat for the NDC at the Mfansteman constituency.
At Berekum East, Elder Ampaabeng Kyeremeh won with 23,476 votes whilst the incumbent NPP MP Hon Nelson Kyeremeh lost with 14,356.
Yakubu Mohammed won Ahafo Ano South East Parliamentary seat for the NDC whilst Alhaji Seidu Haruna maintained the Wenchi constituency seat for the party.
Mr Alhassan Umar won the Zabzugu seat whilst his brother Ntebe Ayo William also won the Tatale Sanguli seat for the NDC. The party after its collation have also claimed victory for the Weija Gbawe constituency which is under contention.
Speaking in an interview with Sompaonline.com, Mr Oduro Takyi said he was optimistic the party would capture those orphan seats because the performance of the government in those areas were abysmal. He added, the NDC remained the only political party that has the development of the nation at heart hence there was the need to put in much effort to unseat all the non-performing NPP MPs.
