The Ashanti regional office of the National Democratic Congress NDC has observed with shock a notice issued by the Ghana Police Service declaring Akakpo our Communication officer for Ahafo Ano North Constituency, George their Deputy Youth organizer for Ahafo Ano and Mujeeb wanted by the police.

A statement signed by the Ashanti regional Chairman of the NDC, Augustus Nana Kwasi said, "The police are loudly aware of the intimidation by the New Patriotic Party and the abuse and brutality our party faithfuls have suffered at the hands of thugs parading as law enforcement agents from the NPP."

The statement added, "Dominic Nimo, a 33-year old NDC member was shot and killed at Mankranso in the Ashanti Region on the election day, Yahaya Al-Haqq NDC communication officer for Obuasi East constituency and Abdul Rahman Yakubu were brutally assaulted and hospitalized by over 15 military men in Akaporiso a town in Obuasi East constituency on the election day, on the same election day 2 ward coordinators of New Edubiase constituency were assaulted by thugs of NPP parading as military men just because they took video of NPP parliamentary candidate sharing money and again on the same election day 2 of our accredited lawyers were brutally assaulted by NPP thugs in a G Wagon vehicle with registration number GC 13-21 at Beposo in Nsuta Kwaman constituency in the Ashanti region."

The party said, they have countless number of unprovoked attacks on their members that have been reported to the police in Ashanti Region.

"On the 8th day of December 2024, Gausu Seidu was shot by surrogates of the New Patriotic Party parading as soldiers at Tepa and on the same day several of our members were attacked and brutally assaulted by these same NPP surrogates at the Regional Coordinating Council when the Electoral Commission invited the party leadership for a meeting and same was reported to the Ashanti Regional Police Commander."

"The Ghana Police Service have done absolutely nothing to address these abuses even though all these unprovoked attacks, brutalities and killings have been reported to the police in Ashanti region."

The Ashanti regional Chairman said in the statement that's, they were convinced that the Ghana Police Service is being used as an instrument of intimidation against our party faithfuls.

"We advise the Ghana Police Service to investigate and address the abuses and killings our party faithfuls have suffered at the hands of thugs and lawless surrogates of the New Patriotic Party. Until it does that, we the NDC are unable to cooperate with the Ghana Police Service."

"The point has to be firmly made that the NDC in Ashanti region will not succumb or surrender to any intimidation either from the NPP or the Ghana Police Service."
