The Electoral Commission (EC) has nearly resolved the disputes regarding the outstanding parliamentary election results, having completed the collation for most constituencies. All results have been declared except for the Ablekuma North seat, which remains outstanding. As a result, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) now holds an overwhelming majority in Parliament with 183 seats.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has secured 88 seats, and there are four independent members of Parliament-elect. These independent MPs are Ohene Kwame Frimpong for Asante Akim North, Nandaya Yaw Stanley for Wulensi, Kwame Asare Obeng (commonly known as Kwame A Plus) for Gomoa Central, and Worlasi Kpeli for Afram Plains North, who is affiliated with the NDC but contested as an independent candidate.
According to these developments and following the official announcement of the results, the composition of the 9th Parliament, which will commence on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, is set, unless a court ruling alters the current situation.
The NDC has already filed an appeal against a High Court order issued in Accra, which on Saturday instructed the EC to finalize and collate results for four outstanding constituencies: Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North.
