Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed strong confidence in the newly inaugurated Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama.
Tinubu commended Mahama's leadership and voiced optimism about the positive changes and progress his administration will bring to Ghana. "I have no doubt your administration will bring about positive change and progress," Tinubu said during Mahama's inauguration ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
He also pledged Nigeria’s unwavering support for Mahama’s government and encouraged the president to reach out whenever assistance is needed.
In his inaugural speech, President Mahama outlined his vision for the country's future, emphasizing the need for a national reset to address the pressing challenges facing Ghana. Reflecting on the state of the nation, Mahama acknowledged the widespread economic hardships experienced over the past few years but expressed hope for a brighter future.
He assured the nation that, despite the economic difficulties of the past, these conditions are not permanent and that his new administration would bring about positive change.
"If democracy is celebrated as a superior means of governance, then its outcomes must be more tangible and benefit individuals in their daily lives. Any honest introspection into the pulse of our nation reveals that many people do not feel they have benefited from or participated in the democratic dividend.
"We are a people facing a severe economic crisis and hardships, and in recent years, we have moved from crisis to crisis. However, there is hope on the horizon.
"Today should mark the beginning of a new opportunity—an opportunity for us to make a difference in our governance and economic management. We shall reset our dear nation, Ghana," he stated.
