The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has started a rigorous programme to help strengthen its base in the Ashanti Region to attract more votes in the 2024 elections.
According to the National chairman, an increase in its votes in the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) stronghold will boost its chances of recapturing political power in the 2024 general elections.
Party leaders, including the National Chairman Ofosu Ampofo, National Communications Officer, and Sammy Gyamfi, former and current parliamentary candidates have trooped to the Ashanti Region capital to roll out the programme.
National Chairman of the NDC, Ofosu Ampofo, commenting on what he termed as "The NDC Reorganisation in the Ashanti Region," with Omanhene Adu Boakye on Sompa Tv said the NDC is ready for power but needs to reorganize and position themselves for the great task ahead.
According to him, the party's structures has been weakened and needs total overhauling and re-registration of both old and new members through biometric and therefore has exempted Ashanti Region and Eastern for special attention.
Ofosu Ampofo said the NDC would leave no stone unturned in its resolve to recapture political power from the NPP in 2024.
Speaking on Ade Akye Abia on Sompa Tv, the chairman said as part of measures to win power in 2024, the NDC has decided to build a formidable base in the Ashanti Region, especially at the branch level.
According to him, the party has also decided to switch all their registered members to the party's recently introduced digital registration system.
He added that the party leadership would train their members in the region about how to campaign and woo more members to join the party, ahead of the crucial 2024 elections and have started orienting and trained 200 people.
The 200 trained party members will train its members to police ballots during the 2024 polls to avoid rigging by their opponents.
"The party structures are weak, it's necessary we strengthen the force, and that's why we have trained over 200 party members, they will be deployed across the 47 constituencies in the country to strengthen the branch based, Ashanti and Eastern were exempted for special reason, you all know it's the strong hold of the other party and we need to put measures to capture numbers. He summarized.
