Concerned Sunyani residents urge health workers to be professional

Some concerned residents in the Sunyani Municipality called on the Ghana Health Service to ensure that nurses and health workers remain professional, and discharge their duties in humility and in diligence.

They are asking health workers in general to be always patient with the sick and pregnant women in labour in particular who sought for medical care at their various health facilities.

In an interview with Sompa FM in Sunyani, Miss Emmanuella Kyeremaa, a meat seller, narrated her ordeal when she visited a health facility during labour.

She expressed worry that instead of attending to patients, most of the nurses were mostly seen at some health facilities and glued to their mobile phones, as patients went through pains.

Madam Diana Apalu, another concerned resident noted that pregnant women in labour needed care and compassion.

When contacted, a medical practitioner only known as Dr Sadat at  Sunyani Teaching Hospital described the situation as unfortunate, however, added patients who visited the facility received attention on "first come and first self" bases.

He was quick to add that emergency cases receive immediate attention and urged patients to exercise little restrain whenever the visited health facilities for medical care.
