My Role Is to Serve the People, Not to Exhibit Pride- Newly Enstooled Mpuntuhene of Simiw Vouch

The newly enstooled Development Chief (Mpuntuhene) of Simiw, a suburb of the Edina Traditional Area in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem Municipality of the Central Region, Nana Kweku Bosomtwi I, has pledged to use his position to serve the people and contribute to the development of the community.

Nana Kweku Bosomtwi I said his responsibility as a traditional leader is to serve the people rather than exhibit pride, stressing the need for humility, unity and collective action in advancing the development of Simiw.

He said he would collaborate with traditional leaders, government officials and other relevant stakeholders to fashion out practical development initiatives for the community.

Nana Kweku Bosomtwi I further called on residents to prioritize education, youth development and the creation of employment opportunities to improve the livelihoods of the people, particularly the youth.

He also advocated the adoption of modern farming methods, noting that agriculture remains a major economic activity in the community.

The newly enstooled chief called for the protection of Simiw's cultural heritage and the promotion of tourism to attract visitors and create additional economic opportunities for residents.

He made a clarion call for unity and justice to prevail among the people, stressing that peace and togetherness are essential for sustainable development.

He made these remarks during his enstoolment as Mpontuhene of Simiw, in a ceremony held under the theme, “Unity, Peace and Development Through Traditional Leadership.”

Meanwhile, the Chief of Simiw and Adontenhene of the Edina Traditional Council, Nana Kwamina Nguando IV, said the development of the community is long overdue, noting that Simiw has existed for more than 500 years.

He assured residents that efforts would be made to construct a community centre, hopefully next year, with support from the government and other benevolent individuals.

Nana Kwamina Nguando IV commended the newly enstooled chief for his contribution to the development of Simiw, particularly his initiative to provide free internet access to the community.

He also said the construction of a bridge leading to the farms has become necessary due to the difficulties residents face, particularly during the rainy season.

According to him, the newly enstooled Development Chief has demonstrated commitment towards the project, and he therefore appealed to other well-to-do individuals and stakeholders to support the construction of the bridge.
