Karela United Wins Sompa Invitational Cup 2026 on Goal Difference as Second Edition Ends

Karela United FC emerged as the leaders of the Sompa Invitational Cup 2026 standings after Matchday 5, finishing level on 10 points with Aduana FC but claiming the top position on goal difference.

‎Karela United recorded three wins, one draw and one defeat from their five matches, giving them a superior goal difference of

‎plus four, while Aduana FC, with an identical record, finished with a plus-two goal difference.

‎The two sides were closely matched throughout the competition, but Karela United's stronger goal difference ultimately gave them the advantage at the top of the table.

‎As the only Division One side among the Ghana Premier League teams that participated in the tournament, newly promoted Bectero Sasana FC finished third with six points from five matches, recording two wins and three defeats, with a goal difference of minus three.

‎Young Apostles FC and Berekum Chelsea FC followed on five points each, both with a minus-one goal difference, while Bechem United FC also finished on five points but had a minus-two goal difference.

‎The competition, which started on Wednesday, August 12 and concluded on Sunday, August 16 this year was the second edition of the Sompa Invitational Cup, an initiative organized by the management of Sompa FM in Sunyani to provide a competitive platform for clubs while preparing for the new season to begin.

‎The tournament has continued to attract teams from across the area, with the first edition won by Bechem United FC while at the same time brought excitement to the football lovers.

‎The second edition once again produced a closely contested competition, with the battle for supremacy going down to the final standings.

‎With the tournament now concluded, attention will turn to the performances and achievements recorded during the second edition, as organizers, participating clubs and supporters look ahead to the next chapter of the Sompa Invitational Cup.
